SAFE FOR THE SEASON

Every summer, our beaches fill with families excited for the sea 🌊

More information

But here is the honest truth… even many of us who LIVE here still do not fully understand the ocean.
🚩 What the flags actually mean
🌀 How to spot a rip current
✋ The signals lifeguards use
🛟 What to do when something goes wrong
🌊 Why the sea can change so quickly
And that is not a criticism.
Nobody really teaches this stuff in a way that sticks.
So this is our answer 💙
SAFE FOR THE SEASON is a fun, hands on, highly interactive beach safety experience for local children and families before the busy summer season properly begins ☀️
No classrooms.
No lectures.
No standing around being talked at.
This is Big F-T style learning 👣🔥
🏄 Games in the sand
🌀 Rip current spotting
🚩 Flag challenges
✋ Signal activities
🌊 Supported water confidence session
🛟 What to do if somebody gets into difficulty
😂 Play based learning that children actually remember
Children learn without realising they are learning.
Parents learn alongside them.
Confidence builds naturally. 🌊
A huge thank you as well to the incredible team at Tolcarne Beach 💙
This event only happens because the staff, team and owners genuinely understand the importance of community, local families and creating meaningful experiences on our coastline.
They understand that our beaches are not just places people visit.
For many of us, they are part of growing up, family life, memories and identity 🌊
That community first mindset is exactly why events like this matter so much.
Massive thank you as well to the brilliant team at Newquay Activity Centre who will be supporting the session with instructors in the water 🙌
We are also hoping to have support and presence from the amazing RNLI 🚤💛
This is about local families feeling more confident on their own beaches.
Because beach safety should not begin AFTER something scary happens.
It should begin with curiosity, confidence and community 🌊☀️
